So today as I was reading a
friends blog, I was able to bask in the feeling of unity among erudite African Americans. Finally, the chance to see my self represented in this country. As I began to read and comment, it took me back to late 2007 and something I started but didn’t finish. I wanted to talk about political as well as minority disenfranchisement in this country and explain the seriousness of rallying behind Barack no matter what you belief. Obviously African Americans are ecstatic, but we need to put emotions and issues to the side. Still in America, the office of President of the United States is not decided by a popular vote but by an electoral college. There are many theories as to why this practice exists but I refuse to entertain a discussion on this nonsense. As we move forward, understand this supposed free democratic society is set up to install the chief executive as opposed to electing one. Please remember this as we move forward, as we vote in not just this election but in others, I hope??? Reflect on the 2000 election when the election was stolen from Al Gore and W was installed. And as always;
Taxation without representation is tyranny
