Snitching, revenue streams in a depressed economy

Ok, I am chilling doing my Sunday thing, answering email, planning strategies with my bp for a new business venture and of course blogging, when I read an article on the NY Times site that flabbergasts me. Crime reporting has tremendously spiked in the weakened economy. People have begun to look at rewards from turning in crooks as supplemental income. I know that I will date myself with this one, but does this mean that we will have a "Citizens On Patrol" unit like in Police Academy??? The media doesn't help at all continously feeding certain stereotypes for crime. Just so everyone knows that I am African American and I am stating for the record, I am not so broke that I am going out to commit a crime to pay bills or retaliate against some one. So if theangryblaqman.com ceases operation for no apparent reason, please call the Fulton County jail and post my bail. See link below....

House Bill 89, Conservative Politics At Its Finest

I love Sonny Perdue! A lot of Americans despise conservative politics but on a day like May 14th, 2008, you gotta love it. HB 89 has been a hot seated debate in the Georgia General Assembly for the past 2 years. HB 89 expanded the rights of permitted gun owners in the state of Georgia, such a beautiful acknowledgment of the Constitution. I pray that the permit process is tightly monitored. Not for the possibility of criminals slipping through the cracks, but to make sure that there is no discrimination against people who are members of population segments that have been stigmatized with a propensity for violence.

Propaganda At It's Worst!!!

Propaganda: a concerted set of messages aimed at influencing the opinions or behaviors of large numbers of people

Why is this news???

For those of you, who are not familiar, on March 10th 2008, Nafiza Ziyad was filmed, verbally assaulting several individuals on a commuter train in Atlanta GA. During this 3 minute webisode, it becomes very apparent that Ziyad is mentally disturbed and at one point accuses a passenger of raping her on a different occasion. After existing on the web for nearly two months, the mainstream media begins to run the story. Local Atlanta radio DJ, Ryan Cameron, interviewed family members who confirmed her mental illness. DAVID SIMPSON of the Atlanta Journal Constitution continues to report this story as if one's personal struggle with mental illness is newsworthy. It is obvious from watching the video that this women is in no shape to care for her self or her condition, so why is the mainstream media plastering this event all over the web???
I find this as a very insensitive act of journalism and members of the media should consider the repercussions of the senseless distribution of ones personal struggles. When this appeared on sites like Mediatakeout.com, it was to be expected, but when mainstream, professional journalist began to cover this story and follow trends set by gossips sites, the state of creditable media reached a sad state.

Chinks In the Armour

It'd be 'terrible mistake' to pick McCain over Obama

Could this be the beginning of end???

"Anybody who has ever voted for me or voted for Barack has much more in common in terms of what we want to see happen in our country and in the world with the other than they do with John McCain," Clinton said on CNN's "The Situation Room."

"I'm going to work my heart out for whoever our nominee is. Obviously, I'm still hoping to be that nominee, but I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that anyone who supported me ... understands what a grave error it would be not to vote for Sen. Obama."

The Fair Tax Is Truly Fair....

So this is a Fair Tax week. Next Thursday, we will have some interesting reading on the high price of fuel. Exactly as I have dreamed, policy that creates the least amount of bureaucracy while still providing the necessary components for freedom and wealth. The Fair Tax is really fair to all Americans. Some things you should know.

1. The FairTax rate of 23 percent on a total taxable consumption base of $11.244 trillion will generate $2.586 trillion dollars $358 billion more than the taxes it replaces.

2. The FairTax has the broadest base and the lowest rate of any single-rate tax reform plan.

3. Disposable personal income is higher than if the current tax system remains in place: 1.7 percent in year 1, 8.7 percent in year 5, and 11.8 percent in year 10.

4. The economy as measured by GDP is 2.4 percent higher in the first year and 11.3 percent higher by the 10th year than it would otherwise be.

5. Consumption increases by 2.4 percent more in the first year, which grows to 11.7 percent more by the tenth year than it would be if the current system were to remain in place.

The Prebate

The thing that most impressed me is the fact of the prebate program for the poor. So many conservative policies are denounced because of their lack of attention paid to the working poor, but the Fair Tax is an example of just the opposite. The Fair Tax prebate program actually allows an allowance for those below the poverty level for necessities of life.

What I hope to get you guys to realize is that we need to find polices to revalue the dollar. We need elect officials that are concerned with the polices of the home front and not concerned with nation building. Spending is not only a national debt problem but it has become a personal debt problem. How can the authoritative hierarchy expects its constituents any differently than the example being set???

Obama Depicted As A Monkey!!! And Some Say It's Not Racist!!!

I don't know about this one people, but in 2008 it's still a racist gesture to depict a Black Man as a monkey. A metro Atlanta area bar owner has designed t-shirts to parody Obama and his apparent Democratic nomination. The though pill to swallow is that the t-shirt has a cartoon drawing that is similar to the children's cartoon and story book character Curious George. The bar owner says that he got the idea while watching the cartoon movie version of the character.

So back to how this bar owner says that people are hyper sensitive and that they should get past any racist innuendo perceived. Let me be the first to say, being a metro Atlanta native, who grew up with family members that trail blazed race relations for Africans in America, it is still a tough pill to swallow. I am in my early thirties, I grew up as a child during the 80's and early 90's and I am here to tell you that I am very aware of his particular mentality. For Mike Norman (bar owner), to push the envelop of racial prejudice and hide behind pseudo progressive ideologies is cowardly to me. Personally, I would have done better with Norman admitting to his racist undertones and I probably wouldn't have written this article. This is the south and that type of ignorance hasn't died. Read this article and judge for yourself!!!

Gas Prices, and What the Media Won’t Tell You

$5 a gallon gas is a very possible in the next six months. The sad part about it is the average American doesn't understand why U.S. Light Crude has risen 400% since 2003 and even sadder is that many Americans don't realize that this spike in price can be halted. I have had several discussions with friends about the status quo economy and how it can be likened to the mid 70's. Without the extensive history lesson, policies from Tricky Dick Nixon inflated our economy and weakened the dollar. Inflation increased and caused the price of energy to rise significantly towards the end of the decade. Around 1973 or 74 the government pushed for fuel efficiency and in 1975 passed the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA). The goal was to increase efficiency and reduce consumption by 2 million barrels per day. "According to the National Research Council, Corporate Automobile Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards had reduced oil consumption by 2.8 million barrels per day in 2000,21 a 25 percent reduction in gasoline demand or a 13 percent reduction in overall U.S. demand (see Figure 2, above). CAFE standards saved consumers about $70 billion in 2000, $66 billion in direct consumer savings and another $3 to $6 billion through lower imported oil costs.22" (www.ndrc.org)

I just wanted to take the opportunity to make guys aware of what causes energy inflation, the effect and some practical solutions. That's right there are small things we can do to reduce our dependency on oil. Like those one million plastic grocery bags we save under the sink or in a drawer, can be recycled. We all consume, on average one to three beverages served in a plastic bottle. Now I know all of you are too fly to even begin to think about all the steps involved with recycling, but the next time you spend $70 to fill up the Honda on the way to The Velvet Room, you will thin twice about discarding your Sprite and water bottles at Quick Trip's trash can. Besides, they sell gas an will make sure all of your plastic trash makes it to the landfill to keep crude oil prices high.

Causes of Energy Inflation (High Ass Gas)

  1. The weakness of the dollar has led many investors to put their money into commodities like oil
  2. Optimism about the prospects for the US economy which may increase demand for oil
    1. "The bulls are in control of the market," said Victor Shum, energy analyst at Purvin & Gertz in Singapore.
    2. "The economic report out of the US [on Monday] on the service sector seems to suggest the economic slowdown may not be as deep as initially thought," he said.
    3. "The sentiment is that the oil pricing is likely going to stay quite strong, with a lot of volatility," Mr Shum said.
  3. Oil has been rising because of fears over possible supply disruptions; Political instability
    1. Production is down in Nigeria after the latest attacks on pipelines this week by anti- government militants
    2. Iraqi exports through the north of the country have been hit by renewed cross-border raids by Turkish forces against Kurdish insurgents
  4. Soaring global demand for oil is being led by China's and India's economic expansion

Effects of Inflation

  1. Oil price 'may hit $200 a barrel'
    1. Surging demand was increasingly likely to create a "super-spike" past $200 in six months to two years' time (Argun Murti, Goldman Sachs energy strategist)
  2. "Economists warn that continuing high oil prices will impact on the global economy, hitting growth and fuelling inflation"

    Source: BBC NEWS http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7387203.stm

  3. If oil prices stayed at current levels of $120 or rose further to $150, this would have "serious consequences" for the strength of the economy, economic forecasters said.
  4. "If it hits $200 per barrel, as one Opec minister recently predicted, then frankly, all bets may well be off," said Hetal Mehta, Item Club economist.

Solutions

Macro (on a Global Level)

Demand for oil from the fast-expanding economies of India and China is one of the key long-term factors that has boosted the price of the commodity

  1. China will take further steps to secure a greater future supply of oil this week when it signs a deal with oil-producer Venezuela to build a refinery jointly in Guangdong province.
  2. Under the deal, Venezuela will supply China with 400,000 barrels a day, five times the current amount.
  3. Last month, Petrochina signed a 25-year pact with Qatar to secure supply of liquified natural gas from the Gulf nation.

Source:

Micro (at tha crib, and I mean that literally)

Fuel efficiency standards had a profound impact on U.S. oil demand. In 1975

In response, the United States and other oil importing nations radically reduced their demand for OPEC oil through fuel efficiency, fuel switching and new production. In response, the total demand for OPEC oil fell by 13 million barrels per day, or 43 percent, between 1979 and 1983.20 Unable to maintain its desired market share at the high oil prices it was charging, OPEC was forced to slash its prices.

  1. Fuel Effiency We did it in the 70's and We Can do it again
    1. Mass-producing gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles, which get double the mileage of today's cars
    2. Expanding use of renewable, non-petroleum fuels, such as ethanol made from crop wastes, by steadily increasing requirements for "renewable content" in gasoline
    3. Encouraging "smart growth"- instead of suburban sprawl to increase our transportation choices, reduce the need to drive and enhance our quality of life.

Reduce oil use in industry-Improvements to industrial processes could produce substantial oil savings. For example, greater use of gasification technology would allow industry to produce more useful products and fuels from the "bottom of the barrel," i.e. residual oil and petroleum coke. Increased recycling of plastics would also reduce oil use.

Gas Prices and What the Media Won’t Report

So yesterday I was on a call with my business partner and we were having this repetitive conversation about the car she is about to purchase. She is so in love with a luxury SUV and has been since she was a kid. Fine, to each his own, I want a fukkin Lambo, but I refuse to pay $5 a gallon for gas and making Dick Chaney the Devil perpetually rich. So part way through our discussion I mentioned to her again the Honda FCX, fuel cell car. That's right the Japanese have out smarted our economy once again. So as we ended our call, I picked up the phone and called the good folks at Carry Paul Honda to find out exactly when I could buy the FCX. I was connected to Brenda, who was the sweetest woman in the world and she nicely explained that I had another four years before I could purchase this car. I have my own reservations as to why the FCX is not available for another 4 years. I bet it has to do with the Devil Dick Chaney and his oil business. If he were Italian, we would call me RICO. If he were Black or Hispanic we would call him King Pin. But for now we will follow the propagandist and call him "A Great American". So as Brenda and I gib gabbed back and forth about gas prices and the election when she mentioned to me one of the other hybrids she sells. I entertained her banter and she discovered I was uninterested until she mentioned the $2,100 tax credit. That was like her standing on her desk and showing me her bare breast and I'm not a titty man. She went on to explain that her dealership sold more that 20 hybrids last week and they expected to sell another twenty this week. My question to all is why is the mainstream media not covering this story??? My second question is why I have to read to the very bottom of a CNN article on gas prices before they mention these facts? Hide the pill in the apple sauce??? Yes, the antibiotics but not the Vicodin. I really don't understand why the government is not intent on solvency. I really don't understand Americans that are intent on lifestyle and not practicality and not willing to participate in the political process. The Honda Hybrids get 40-50 mile to the gallon. There is an associated $2,100 tax credit and the demand is through the roof. I'm through preaching, when I am rich and the rest of America is stuck counting pennies to buy top Ramen then you will wish you read my blog and paid attention and not $5 for gas.

Hybrid Cars and Alternative Fuel Vehicles

Updated frequently — last updated Dec. 11, 2007

Vehicles Purchased or Placed in Service

The Energy Policy Act of 2005 replaced the clean-fuel burning deduction with a tax credit. A tax credit is subtracted directly from the total amount of federal tax owed, thus reducing or even eliminating the taxpayer's tax obligation. The tax credit for hybrid vehicles applies to vehicles purchased or placed in service on or after January 1, 2006.

The credit is only available to the original purchaser of a new, qualifying vehicle. If a qualifying vehicle is leased to a consumer, the leasing company may claim the credit.

Hybrid vehicles have drive trains powered by both an internal combustion engine and a rechargeable battery. Many currently available hybrid vehicles may qualify for the tax credit.

These models have been certified for the credit in the following amounts:

† This reflects a decrease in the credit amount as of Oct. 1, 2006, due to the manufacturers meeting quarterly sales of 60,000 qualified hybrid cars — See Quarterly Sales, below.

†† This credit amount does not phase out. The full amount of the altenative fuel vehicle credit would be available for vehicles purchased on or before December 31, 2010.

Qualifed Cars and Credit Amounts

Quarterly Sales

Consumers seeking the credit may want to buy early since the full credit is only available for a limited time. Taxpayers may claim the full amount of the allowable credit up to the end of the first calendar quarter after the quarter in which the manufacturer records its sale of the 60,000th hybrid or advance lean burn technology. For the second and third calendar quarters after the quarter in which the 60,000th vehicle is sold, taxpayers may claim 50 percent of the credit. For the fourth and fifth calendar quarters, taxpayers may claim 25 percent of the credit. No credit is allowed after the fifth quarter.

For example, F Company is a manufacturer of hybrid motor vehicles, but not advanced lean burn technology motor vehicles. F Company sells its 60,000th hybrid car on March 31, 2006.

  • Ms. Smith buys an F Company hybrid car on June 30, 2006, and claims the full credit.

  • Ms. Maple buys an F Company hybrid car on Dec. 31, 2006, and claims 50 percent of the credit.

  • Mr. Grey buys an F Company hybrid car on June 30, 2007, and claims 25 percent of the credit.

  • Mr. Green buys an F Company hybrid car on July 1, 2007, and is unable to claim the credit, because the credit has phased out for F Company vehicles.

Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc., has submitted quarterly reports indicating that its cumulative sales of qualified vehicles to retail dealiers has reached the 60,000-vehicle limit during the calendar quarter ending June 30, 2006. Effective Oct. 1, 2006, the tax credit amounts for certified Toyota models will be reduced. The models and allowable credits may be found in news releases IR-2006-145, Toyota Hybrids Begins Phaseout on October 1and IR-2006-154, Additional Toyota and Lexus Vehicles Certified for the Energy Tax Credit.

More detailed information may be found in the Summary of the Credit for Qualified Hybrid Vehicles

Vehicles Purchased or Placed in Service 2001 through 2005

In August 2002, the IRS announced that it had certified the first hybrid gas-electric automobile as eligible for the clean-burning fuel deduction, effective 2001. Federal law allowed individuals to claim a deduction for the incremental cost of buying a motor vehicle propelled by a clean-burning fuel. A tax deduction is subtracted from income, thus reducing the amount of adjusted gross income on which the taxpayer is taxed.

The deduction is only available to the original purchaser of a new, qualifying vehicle. If a qualifying vehicle is leased to a consumer, the leasing company may claim the credit.

Immigration Election 2008

America has a sick need for free or cheap labor. Let's be honest, this country was founded on free and cheap labor. Yes, I am black and slavery was horrible and yatta yatta yatta. The Dutch, English and Spanish all imported prisoners, indentured servants and chattel slaves to America beginning in the 1500's. The very spirit of this land is to build and employ for cheap. It is a hard habit to break. It is a cruel practice to dignify. So as the 2008 Presidential Candidates construct piece meal platforms on how to cure the immigration crisis, understand that there is no real plan to do away with the migrant Spanish population that "illegally" enters this country. I challenge you to read about a free market society's need for a poor working class. The requirement doesn't really involve the working class being anything but controllable. With South Americans that travel here from poorer underdeveloped countries, the United States seems like a virtual goldmine and corporations love it. The problem doesn't really come from those menial manual labor jobs that you don't want! The problem is the jobs that Americans are willing to train for and get new skills for are outsourced for a cheaper price as well. Now you are federally fucked with no Vaseline. And buddy, it ain't changing until we change it. Below I have linked the current presidential candidates and their individual platforms on immigration and I have also linked you to your state's Senator and Congressperson. Support The Fair Tax!!!

Whether rich or poor, young or old, legit or criminal we all pay taxes. Now some of you disagree, but a portion of the fair tax already exists. The question we must ask from the list of people I named is who pays more and who pays less. We all have the answer. So back to the fair tax, the idea is to level the playing field by instituting a federal sales tax and doing away with the federal income tax. This is intended to be a diluted explanation series on the fair tax so that some of my readers are able to grasp exactly how the fair tax my help or harm them. The basics of the fair tax can be found at http://www.fairtax.org. I would like to start by throwing out some of the current cons critics seem to be debating in the media. Once we look in depth at some of arguments of the so called negative effects of the fair tax, then we will take a look at the pros, so that you don't feel like me or others are selling you snake oil!!!

We'll start with the fair tax 5 an specifically the argument of regression and shift of burden to the middle class.

The FairTax Five

The gloves are off as critics try to pick apart the FairTax. Trouble is, it's just a replay of the same five FairTax myths:

Source: http://www.fairtax.org/site/PageServer?pagename=about_main

"The FairTax is regressive and shifts the tax burden onto lower and middle income people"

The truth: The FairTax actually eliminates and reimburses all federal taxes for those below the poverty line. This is accomplished through the universal prebate and by eliminating the highly regressive FICA payroll tax. Today, low and moderate income Americans pay far more in FICA taxes than income taxes. Those spending at twice the poverty level pay a FairTax of only 11.5 percent -- a rate much lower than the income and payroll tax burden they bear today. Meanwhile, the wealthy pay the 23 percent retail sales tax on their retail purchases.

Under the federal income tax, slow economic growth and recessions have a disproportionately adverse impact on lower-income families. Breadwinners in these families are more likely to lose their jobs, are less likely to have the resources to weather bad economic times, and are more in need of the initial employment opportunities that a dynamic, growing economy provides. Retaining the present tax system makes economic progress needlessly slow and frustrates attempts at upward mobility through hard work and savings, thus harming low-income taxpayers the most.

In contrast, the FairTax dramatically improves economic growth and wage rates for all, but especially for lower-income families and individuals. In addition to receiving the monthly FairTax prebate, these taxpayers are freed from regressive payroll taxes, the federal income tax, and the compliance burdens associated with each. They pay no more business taxes hidden in the price of goods and services, and used goods are tax free.

How can the FairTax generate lower net tax rates for everyone and still pay for the same real government expenditures? The answer is two-fold. Firstly, the tax base is dramatically widened by including consumer spending from the underground economy (estimated at $1.5 trillion annually), and by including illegal immigrants, those who escape their fair share today through loopholes and gimmicks. In addition, 40 million foreign tourists a year will become American taxpayers as consumers here. Secondly, not everyone's average net tax burden falls. For households whose major economic resource is accumulated wealth, the FairTax will deliver a net tax hike compared to the current system.

Consider, for example, your typical billionaire, of which America now has more than 400. These fortunate few are invested primarily in equities on which they pay taxes at a 15 percent rate, whether their income comes in the form of capital gains or dividends. In addition to having the income from their wealth taxed at a low rate, the principal of their wealth is completely untaxed either directly or indirectly. Assuming they and their heirs spend only the income earned on the wealth each year, the tax rate today is 15 percent. In contrast, under the FairTax, the effective tax rate is 23 percent. Hence, the very wealthy will pay more taxes when the FairTax is enacted. In a nutshell, those who spend more will pay more but low, moderate and middle income taxpayers will benefit from the greatest gains in reduced tax liabilities.

Obama Flattered By Hamas Endorsement, What Right Wing Spin!!!

Listening to the AM right wing media, I repeatedly heard reports on how Obama was flattered by the endorsement of Hamas. So, it struck me as very odd especially after the entire Rev. Wright debacle, that Barack would make such a public statement given its volatile nature. So as I read through articles and did my research I found the undeniable truth. On Sunday April 13th, Aaron Klein and John Batchelor interviewed Ahmed Yousef, chief political adviser to the Prime Minister of Hamas. In the interview it was stated that Hamas endorsed Obama and he was compared to JFK. Later in an additional interview by Klein, David Axelrod "I like John Kennedy, too," "That's about the only thing we have in common with this gentleman from Hamas…" The campaign did state it was flattered by the compliment but no where could I find evidence that Obama was flattered by the endorsement. This is political spin at its finest. If you are apart of the Obama political machine then please stand up for your candidate, don't let media propaganda decide your outcome!!! Thinking is free! Be a free thinker!!!

So I want bore you guys with too many details but I want to get str8 to the point on arguments I raise. I will try not to spin this to much but it is very hard seeing that I am an Angry Blaq Man!!! We all remember summer 2006 when 7 nappy head dreads from Liberty City Florida were plastered all over CNN and Fox linked to an alleged internal terror plot. Yeah right!!! Now if you told me that they had a thousand bails of marijuana or a few tons of coke then I might have flipped on over to rap city and continued to rot my brain checking for the latest video ho. But Haitians, Al Qaeda and terror, you got me!!! I am all ears. I mean George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh couldn't right this shit. I was smart enough to know from the first thirty seconds of the news story that this was some bullshit, but I was immediately on Google trying to find out what was really going on in the world that would have CNN selling tickets to Goldie's Light Show. Long story short, these dudes supposedly made arrangements with an "undercover" operative to blow up the Sears Tower in Chi-town. Now again if you told me that these cats were caught conspiring to dump 1,000 bricks in the wild 100's and then use the profits to buy Meech's freedom then I might have believed that. But no, you had Alberto Gonzales all on CNN saying and I quote, "these men were prepared to wage a full ground war against the US". They based their investigation on the 7 belonging to Moorish Science Temple. O.K. someone please call Homeland Security and tell them that the Nation of Islam, The 5 Percent Nation, The Moorish Science Temple, World Changers Ministries, and New Birth are only going to sell bean pies, fish plates, raffle tickets and fund raiser candy respectively and they have no real intention on rocking the boat. With that being said in or around March 25th FBI agents investigating A stolen car. A, meaning single, not bank robbers, not drug lords, not terrorist, A stolen car and dog fighting NFL Players??? Agents were called to the scene once the owner who reported the car stolen one week earlier observed his car pulling into a gas staion where he was refueling. Agents seize the car and find a bomb and some Iraqi currency and publicly state that they have ruled out terrorism????
